Through the years, I’ve learned how important it is to have good, loving, and supportive girl friends. Luckily for me, I have a handful in my life! Some friendships come and go, but others stick around for a lifetime – those are the friends I’m talking about. While you grow up, get jobs, then change jobs, get boyfriends…then fiances…then husbands, and maybe move a time or two, these girls are the ones who really matter and stick by your side. While I love, love, love spending time with Oakley, there’s something that’s SO necessary about hanging out with my girls.
A little over a year ago, a few of us had the idea to start a girls only book club. Personally, I was craving time with girl friends and was tired of waiting until the weekend to see them! The original book club was ACTUALLY a book club, meaning we read books. However, we quickly realized that we enjoyed each other’s company wayyy more than discussing whatever book we had been reading. This is when our group changed from book club to “book” club. Get it? We don’t actually read books! Ha!
We usually get together once per month on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Each of us takes turns hosting – we make lots of yummy snacks and, most importantly, drink a lot of wine. This week, Sara and I co-hosted at my apartment.
Sara made a beautiful cheese ball and a Dunkaroos-inspired dessert (put your hand up if you were obsessed with Dunkaroos growing up)! Both treats were delicious, and don’t let her tell you otherwise!!
[Ps – I’m so obsessed with her Pottery Barn serveware!]
I made two flatbread pizzas (1: ranch, mozzarella, shredded chicken, and bacon bits; 2: tomato sauce, mozzarella, and salami) and basil hummus. Of course, I forgot to take pictures of these items, but they weren’t nearly as cute as the Dunkaroos dessert!
Megan, Kristyn, and Jerry came over, helped us devour all of our snacks, and entertained us for the evening. We talked about Bachelor in Paradise (how we can’t believe that it’s on for THREE hours each week) and Real Housewives of New York (how ironic is it that none of those women are actually married anymore…hence, not true “housewives”).
Sara and Jerry introduced the rest of us to Bitmojis – have you heard of them!? Go on your phone and download this app NOW! I promise it won’t disappoint. Here’s a little teaser to get you excited:
[It’s pretty much like a personalize avatar emoji!]
As you learned in my previous post, who run the world? girls!, Kristyn recently got engaged. We’re going to Seaside, Florida for her bachelorette party next year, so we obviously talked about that! We discussed makeup and the proper order to apply it (I’ve been doing it incorrectly for my whole life – haha!) and most importantly, we talked about how excited we are for Megan to be able to drink with us again (I can’t believe Baby Strange will be born sooo soooon!).
To close out the evening, we took some selfies…because why not?
Lots of love – ked
