After church, Oakley and I almost always go out for brunch. I guess it’s kind of a Sunday tradition! Last Sunday, Oakley suggested going to a restaurant on Buffalo Bayou called The Dunlavy. We had such a good experience that I thought it deserved a blog post!
houston brunch – the dunlavy
The atmosphere at The Dunlavy is unlike any other Houston brunch destination! Since it’s on the bayou, it’s completely surrounded by trees – honestly, when you’re there, it doesn’t even feel like you’re in the middle of the city! The trees are so pretty and give the restaurant a “tree house” vibe. If you opt to sit outside on the patio, you can enjoy the trees during your whole meal!
While the trees make the view outside of the restaurant beautiful, the interior decorations give the trees a run for their money! Chandeliers of different shapes and sizes cover the ceiling, adding the perfect compliment to the large windows. Once you place your order at the counter, you have your pick of tables – all wooden. Some are small and others are long, family style seating. Honestly, it’s impossible to pick a bad seat!
Once you find your seat, a server will bring you any beverages and food you ordered. Oakley ordered an egg sandwich and I had a latte and a waffle with fruit. Yum, yum, yum.
During a previous visit to The Dunlavy, I ordered the avocado toast. And guess what, it was also delicious! Needless to say, I’m a big fan!
If you live in HTX, what are your favorite brunch places? If you’re not a Houston local, I’d love to hear about brunch restaurants around you!
Lots of love – ked
