how to make time for a workout

Is it just me, or is the hardest part of working out ACTUALLY doing it? Finding the time and motivation to get your butt in gear is no easy task. However, once we check that workout off our to do list, it’s the best feeling! Amiright!? I’ve never regretted making time to exercise, the only regrets come when I don’t make the time. So, the million dollar question…what are the best ways to make time for a workout?!

how to make time for a workout

  1. pay for it

I hate to make this about money, but personally, pre-paying for an exercise class is one of the best ways to ensure I actually attend! Money talks, people!! Weather you purchase classes on an ongoing / monthly basis or drop in at a few different studios around you, don’t be afraid to pull out your wallet. Trust me, it will hold you accountable!

  2. put it on your calendar

If you’re a calendar fanatic, make sure your workouts are scheduled. I literally write down every workout I intend on doingย – I’m convinced this helps me plan around exercising instead of trying to squeeze it in. This can be done with whatever you use to organize your life! If you live on your phone, set a reminder. Maybe you’re a bullet journaler – create a special page for your exercising goals!

  3. make it fun / find a friend

This is one of my favorite tips! Think about how much more fun you would have exercising if you thought of it as a time to be with friends. Use the time to catch up and encourage each other! If you have an exercise buddy, it will not only hold you accountable, but also make you excited about your upcoming workouts!

  1. Once I sign up for a class, unless I am really sick, I’ll go to it for just the reason you gave…money. Most places expect a 4-8 hour notice of cancellation or you get charged for a class or get charge a fee.

    1. Kim – You’re so right!!! It’s such a crummy feeling to 1) pay for a class that you don’t end up attending AND 2) being charged a cancellation fee on top of that! Unless something comes up (like getting sick), you might as well just go and get your money’s worth!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Katy – YOU CAN DO IT!!! I’ve found that baby steps (no pun intended) is the best way to get back into a workout routine!

  2. So true; my biggest problem is finding the time, especially with 4 young children – although in one way they are my exercise!! ๐Ÿ˜€ I did find that paying for it helped ๐Ÿ™‚ And doing it with a friend makes it much more fun.

    1. Lynda – I can imagine your 4 youngsters are quite the workout! You go, girl!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I’m the worst when it comes to finding time to work out. But I think what I’m going to start doing is waking up earlier to work out then, because I know that once I get home from work I definitely won’t want to do it at all!

    1. Jasmine – That’s such a good idea!! It might take a few days to get in the habit of waking up earlier, but once you’re in the swing of things, you’ll totally love it! And think about how good it will feel to start your day out with some exercise!

    1. Sarah – Personal training definitely isn’t cheap, but I bet it’s so worth it!! Keep it up! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I definitely agree with these. Especially finding/doing it with a friend! If I’m by myself I find I make any excuse I possibly can to not work out but being with a friend makes it more fun and it also means we can help motivate one another!

  5. I am currently struggling to find a regular exercise routine. Part of the issue is the weather here in Portland. Every time it stops rain, my hubby and I get outside immediately, but we need to figure out some indoor exercising. Kind of hard to do when you are living in an RV, but we’re figuring it out!

    1. Andi – The weather can definitely make it hard to motivate yourself to exercise! Maybe search on YouTube for some workouts to do in small places – I’m sure you’ll find something! Have a great day!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Every day I plan to work out and most days I get to bedtime without fitting it in! It’s something that I’m working on lol!

    1. Lianne – All you can do is work on it!! Maybe try short workouts to get in the habit of fitting in time for exercise! Thanks for stopping by! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Great tips! I find I’m much more likely to workout if I have a friend who keeps me accountable, so finding a friend to go with really helps!

    1. Joscelyn – I couldn’t agree more! Having a workout buddy makes a huge difference!
