I’ve been thinking about this post for quite a while now. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how to go about writing it! I have always been a big goal-setter, so I knew I wanted to do a kedgotwed post about new year resolutions; however, sometimes goals are so personal that it’s hard to write about them. Not personal in a secretive way, but personal in a this-might-be-hard-to-explain-in-a-blog-post way. Does that make sense?
my approach toward 2017 new year resolutions
After debating how to best approach this topic, I have come to the conclusion that the best thing to discuss is how I am making my new year resolutions…not necessarily what they are.
For my 2017 resolutions, I’ve divided my life into five “categories” that are most important to me: marriage, personal, work, health, and kedgotwed. Each “category” will have unique resolutions.
To some, like Oakley (haha!), this seems super complicated and over ambitious. However, for me, it allows me to think about ways I can better myself as a whole. In 2016, my resolutions were to 1) get back in the habit of journaling and 2) run 366 miles (since 2016 was a leap year!). While I thoroughly enjoyed working at both of these resolutions all year long, I was neglecting working toward things in other areas of my life (ie: marriage and work). In 2017, I want to set myself up for success and work on being the best me I can!
I frequently find myself thinking, “how can I be a better wife to Oakley?” I believe that small acts of kindness can go a long, long way – especially when you’re focusing these acts on your spouse! In 2017, I want to do more small, but meaningful, acts of kindness for Oakley.
In 2017 I really want to work on cutting back on gossiping and focusing on seeing the best in each person. My personal resolution will most definitely focus on this!
Have you ever thought about how many hours per week you spend working? It’s a lot! Anything that you spend so many hours doing deserves a new year resolution, if you ask me!
Being a healthy person has always been very important to me. In 2017, I’m going to set a running goal and cut back on the number of times I drink alcohol each week!
Thinking of a resolution for kedgotwed has been the most difficult for me. There are so many things that I want to accomplish! I’m going to need to spend some more time thinking and priortizing my goals for kedgotwed before I can actually make a resolution. With that being said, I am SO happy that I started kedgotwed in 2016 and I am EXTREMLY excited to see where it goes in 2017!
How are you going about setting your new year resolutions? I hope this post has helped get your goal-setting juices flowing 🙂 Happy 2017, friends!
Lots of love – ked
