Mornings are absolutely my favorite part of the day – especially on Saturdays and Sundays. This morning I woke up and went for a 4 mile run on Buffalo Bayou…in the rain. When I headed out, it was gloomy, but I hoped I would finish before the sky let loose. Midway through, it started sprinkling. It felt like the weather was taunting me! I was determined to make it to the halfway point because it has one of my favorite views on the bayou.
[You all know how much I love a good view of the HTX skyline!]
See how gloomy it looks? The rain must have brought in a bit of a cool front; while it was incredibly humid, the temperature was surprisingly refreshing! On the second half of my run, the sprinkles turned into on-and-off rain spells. I ended up having a great run though, and I enjoyed each mile!
According to weather.com, Houston is expecting rain showers all week!! Don’t forget to grab your umbrellas, people!
Moving on to the other shower this weekend…
Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone is either getting married or having a baby these days? I LOVE IT!! Celebrating friends and loved ones is one of my favorite things to do. On Saturday, Meegs and I threw a baby shower honoring Megan Strange and Baby Strange (aka BS)!
Meegs and I thought it would be best to host the shower at her house, since it could hold more people than my 1-bedroom apartment. We also decided to go with a neutral-colored theme because Megan and Casey, her hubby, are waiting until BS is born to find out the gender. The shower started at 11:00, so we wanted to serve brunch. A week before the shower, we went shopping for decorations and decided on what brunch items we were going to serve.
Friday night was a late one (at least by my standards)! We prepped the casserole and hash browns, baked the muffins, made the party favors, decorated the table and mantel, and drank wine (obviously). It was a full night!! Luckily, I came prepared to spend the night there. When I got into bed at 12:15, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
[Our table, minus the food. The blocks in the middle say “welcome baby strange”.]
[This plate was a wedding gift from my good friend and her mom! I love using it!]
[How adorable are the onesies and the neutral-colored stuffed animals?!]
[“about to pop” popcorn party favors!]
[HUGE s/o to Big Ass Balloons for these adorably huge, white balloons!]
[“mom”-osa bar – aka, mimosa bar!]
Saturday morning we woke up, continued decorating, baked the casserole and hash browns, made the fruit salad, set up the “mom”-osa bar, picked up the balloons, and put everything in its place.
At 11:00 on the dot, Megan knocked on the door with two of her out-of-town friends (Megan is always, always on time!). The party had officially begun!
We hosted 17 ladies and had a blast! Everyone enjoyed different flavored “mom”-osas, snacking on brunch, and chatting about all of the important things in life (ie: Bachelor in Paradise, how long you have to wait to start drinking alcohol after you give birth, etc.). We played a HILARIOUS game, Megan opened all of her lovely gifts, and we chatted some more.
[The “dirty diaper” game – melt a few different chocolate bars individually (we used Twix, Kit-Kat, Snickers, and York Peppermint Patty), spread the melted chocolate from each bar in it’s own diaper, guests smell each “dirty diaper” to guess what the melted chocolate bar is and then write down their guess for each, whoever guesses the most correct is the winner!]
[Let the smelling begin!!]
[I had way too much fun taking these pics!]
[Meegs, Megan, and me!]
[So much love for Megan and BS!!!!]
[Kristyn, Megan, me, and Sara – the “book” club ladies! (book=wine)]
[We had so much fun showering Megan and BS!! I can’t wait to meet the newest addition to the Strange family!]
Lots of love – ked
