weekending

Why do weekends go by so quickly?! This weekend was filled with so many different activities and we saw so many friends and family. In my book, that’s a perfect weekend!

On Friday, I hung out with my youngest sister, Emily. I wanted to get my nails done before our Italy trip, so Em went along with me. She got solar nails for the first time and totally rocked them!

[Sister selfie!]

We picked up Chinese food from Feng Ling for dinner and she introduced me to one of her favorite shows, The 100. It was really good and I’m definitely hooked now! I spent the night with her at my parents’ house that night.

One of my favorite reasons to spend the night at my parents’ is to drink my dad’s coffee in the morning! When I woke up on Saturday, I was so excited to find that my dad had already made me a cup – I felt so spoiled! I sipped on it while I sat outside with Mille and planned out future ked got wed posts.

[A perfect combo!]

Later in the afternoon, Oakley and I went to our niece’s 2nd birthday party. LOOK at that face – isn’t she the cutest?!

[Such a happy birthday girl!!]

It was a watermelon-themed party and her mom, Ashley, did a great job planning everything! We snacked on watermelon bruschetta and watermelon salsa while sipping watermelon cocktails. It was adorable!

For dinner, we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, 1308 el Tiempo. I could talk about how good this restaurant is for hours and hours. But, in reality, words just don’t do it justice. We are BFFs with one of the waiters and he snuck us a few margs on the house. Oakley and I split fajitas and had a grand ole’ time!

[On average, I’d say we eat at 1308 once every two weeks…it’s a serious obsession!]

Oakley’s parents treated us to brunch on Sunday at The Houstonian. If you live in Houston and haven’t been to The Houstonian for brunch, you’re seriously missing out! For me, the atmosphere is the best part. I love how it’s in the center of a huge city, but surrounded by so many beautiful trees and amazing landscape. You almost forget that you’re in Houston! I decided to keep it classic with my breakfast choice – two eggs, sausage, potatoes, and toast.

For the rest of the afternoon, we prepared for ITALY!!! We ran errands, did some chores around the apartment, and started to pack. I’m so darn excited for the trip that I don’t even mind all of the prep work we have to do!

We went over to my parents’ house for dinner. Bailey was in town from Austin, Bebe came over, Megan and Casey were there, and even Paddy and Jim (Megan’s parents) came! It was so good to see everyone one last time before our big trip! Meegs helped me plan out some of my outfits for Italy and she even let me borrow a few dresses. She really is the best!

My dad was the chef – he prepared chicken and veal piccata with fresh pasta. It was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. The sauce was to die for…he knocked it out of the park!
